Emulators
We created some high speed emulators for the PSX, these emulators were fast enought to run original Arcade ROMS at full speed on the humble PSX.
You could select select various options at emulation start, like 50/60Hz frame rate, Horizontal or Vertical display mode, etc...
If you have built one of our keyboards, you can press ESC to stop the emulators and enter a built-in debugger.
The Galaxian Project 1/3Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Galaxian Project 2/3Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Galaxian Project 3/3Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Phoenix Project 1/2Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Phoenix Project 2/2Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Invaders Project 1/12Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Invaders Project 2/12Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Invaders Project 3/12Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Invaders Project 4/12Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!
The Invaders Project 5/12Emulated on the PSX, runs original Arcade ROMS at full speed!

Spectrum EmulatorEmulated on the PSX, runs Spectrum games at full speed!
DOWNLOAD INVADERS V1.08 (loads of variants!!!)
So far we have only tested about 35 titles, they work without problems...
IO file spec:
The ".io" file contains 4 bytes (no more, no less!)...
Byte 1 - Input port type (0-4)
Byte 2 - Output port type (0-2)
Byte 3 - Video orientation (0-3) + bit 6=allow red and bit 7=colourise
Byte 4 - Sound sample set (0)!!!
Duel Shock Analogue pad should be used for analogue games (red light on!)
DOWNLOAD PHOENIX/PLEIADS V2.10 (Eight variants!!!)
DOWNLOAD GALAXIANS V1.04
Runs games that have galaxian sized graphic files, Sound is 20% - just firing and noise effects.
IO file spec:
Like the Invaders and Phoenix emulators you can make your own batch files, this extends the number of games that the emulator will run. As with Invaders, a ".io" file can be used to select the input and output memory maps, and change various operating parameters. The ".io" file is 4 bytes long (no more, no less)!!!
Byte 1 - [bit 0 - stars on, bit 1 - scroll stars, bit 4 - small bullets, bit 7 - decrypt code]
Byte 2 - Number of graphic files (of size $800)
Byte 3 - Input memory map (0-3)
Byte 4 - Output memory map (0-2)
DOWNLOAD SPECTRUM V1.07
Runs games full speed without any skipping, sound is 95%.
Why does it sound slightly different than a real Spectrum?
The spectum emulator uses a very useful sound chip bug discovered here at Double Dutch Designs.
This bug allows you to "pulse" the TV speaker in much the same way as the spectrum does.
The problem is that unlike the spectrum, the psx pulls back the speaker straight away.
The result is that the Spectrum produces something like square waves and the psx produces something like sawtooth(ish) waves.
Reverb effects may get the sound more like the real spectrum, we just don't know at present.
Controls:
Press SELECT and X for 60hz
Press SELECT and O for 50hz
Press SELECT and L1 for wide mode
Press SELECT and R1 for narrow (spectrum border) mode
Press SELECT and UDLR to reposition screen
Use our keyboard interface to type in programs!!!
Press Shift for CAPS SHIFT
Press Alt Gr for SYMBOL SHIFT
Emulator menu:
We created a special menu for running the emulators...
It is in HiRez and also features speech.
The menu can be either horizontal or vertical, you use the R1 and R2 buttons to decide.
It autodetects PAL and NTSC machines, but you can also select with L1 and L2.
Use the psx pad to move up and down, to go faster press square!
The parameters are passed to the emulated arcade machines, so you do not have to reselect them later.
The list of games within the menu covers all our current emulators except Invaders variants.
Download it from here.
